bilstein shock re-valve
I picked up a set of FX3 shocks from a fellow Z brother. I would like to go with coilover. The shocks have approx. 70k on them so I figured I should send them to get redone, correct? if so what is the process, cost? I see some have mentioned a Morroca setting in other posts. Thanks to all for any help

Re: bilstein shock re-valve
I sent mine in for a rebuild in the 90s. They came back kinda messed up. The Touring setting now is too harsh. It was said that an "improved" valving was used. It was not what I wanted. I wanted stock. Know what you want. Maybe you'll get it, maybe you won't.

About $125 a piece. Not sure if they are doing them at the moment somebody said they were out of parts but I cant remember whom?. Don't forget you will need to get them grooved to accept the coil overs as well. Have you thought about your front and rear spring rate yet? Yes at 70K they are due Ricky. GC

Re: bilstein shock re-valve
I just sent all 4 of my original shocks in for rebuild. They could not rebuild the 2 rear shocks because they no longer have the rods and Bilstein is not going to produce anymore. The valves they may still have, but whatever stock they have left will be it. Don't think they're going to produce anymore parts (all parts produced in Germany)for the original shocks, at least that's what I got out of my conversations with them.

Re: bilstein shock re-valve
Depends. They won't know until they take the shock apart, but most of the time, yes they need to be replaced.

Re: bilstein shock re-valve
Forgot to mention I also have 4 of the new direct replacement Bilstein shocks. They look and function exactly the same, sans the decals. I think they redesigned the internals, so even though they won't reproduce the internal parts for the originals they should for the newer version.
