I am looking at HTR Z(Ultra High Performance Summer) from Tire Rack.
Has anyone here used them? what are your thoughts?

I think you're referring to the Sumitomos. Don't bother. They're cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've got a set on my car right now. They don't hook for sh!t. I can spin through first 3 gears. The car accelerates, but is spinning hard and leaving a lot on the table. I'm trying to save my money for a better set of tires, but the PCM swap I'm working on is eating up available funds.

I have used a bunch of them before switching to Nitto 555s. They aren't to bad when their new, however, they wear out quickly. I was going through 2 sets of rears to 1 front set. I consider them "cheap fun" for drifting on the power and tire smoking in general.
I ran a new set back in the 05 Silver State and they actually felt good at speed though I have nothing to compare them to when driving over 150 mph for 90 miles. I consider them a short life tire... or... better said... you get what you pay for. I recently saw Walmart had a set of 4 Nitto 555s for about $800 out the door. That represents a better value for your money IMHO. I paid $950 2 years ago with a 100% road hazard warranty for the Nittos. These tires have performed well for the money and would buy them again when the time comes.

Hate the Sumi's!!! Some don't mind them if the car isn't driven much and not @ high speed. I LOVE michelin's and goodyears but they are pricey. If you drive your car and dont' mind paying a little more for tires get the Michelins! You can get them for $1460 shipped. (275/40/17 and 335/35/17) from ViperPartsofAmerica.com Good luck and let us know what you get! ![]() David |

Ditto!
I really like the BFG KDW's. The Turbo Car and the Hawaii car both have them. The GSD3's are my next choice followed by the Mich SP-2's. Cheers, RH

I'd take the Mich's over the GSD3's and take the Nitto''s for traction over all.

i cant see the point to running cheap tires on something that has as brutial performance as the zr-1. i'll run cheap tires on my mustang or my honda. the zr-1 gets the best I can find....even if I can't always afford it. GSD-3's or SP2's only.

Not sure what you are looking for I ran the Kumho V700 for years on the street with no issues. It was a really good tire IMHO for the price only drawback, and this is with any Kumho high performance tire I have found, that when pushed hard and to the limits it becomes a bit greasy.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....del=Ecsta+V700 I did get cought in the ran once or twice with them and it wasn't bad. I did not have them shaved but did have them heat cycled. Good luck in the search. ![]() Daniel |

Would the M&H 325/45/17 drag radial fit on these cars? Ive seen them on some 17x11 rims mounted on Camaros.
Kuhmo makes a 315/35/17 as well. peace Hog |
