Electronic Automatic Air Conditioning
Its been about 2 weeks since i`ve driven my 90-Z and i`m about to get in it and drive to Memphis which is about 120 miles away. Heres my problem; when i turn the a/c on, it works great for about 2 minutes. when i make changes it just hangs up. For example i can push the recirculate button (or any other) and the light comes on and then its just frozen there. Can`t make any changes at all. I tried taking the battery cable off for a while and this is a temporary fix. Guess i`ll just go ahead and take a 5/16 wrench with me, pull over and disconnect for a minute when i need to make a change. Might even have to ride with the windows down. Hell, i might even take the top off but i`m going in the Z. Anybody ever had a problem like this? I`ve got a 1990 Corvette service manual ST-364-90PSID. Just thought i`d ask before i start digging. I`ll check back tonight when/if i get back and i`ll know more. Thanks in advance for any replies.........Richard.....

Re: Electronic Automatic Air Conditioning
i started to memphis yesterday, pushed the air control to auto and it ran on high. about 20 miles later i stopped to eat. when i came out the controller let me bring the fan speed down to 5. i did`nt touch it again for the next 100 miles. traffic was lite so i ran mostly between 80-85 mph. why is it that when people see a corvette tooling down the road, they like to fall in behind and keep up? i let them stay in behind for a couple of miles then gradually increase speed. the one who hung in there the most was a silver volkswagon. that thing would run 100 mph constantly. i slowed down to see who was driving and it was a young fat girl. anyway on the way back, when i started up the fan speed could be controlled but sometimes the green light above whatever mode i was in it would blink. i`ve never liked the auto air much anyway. wish it had manual control. i`ve got a friend who has a salvage yard and in it he`s got whats left of about ten 90-95 corvettes. think i`ll see if i can talk him into letting me swap out some parts if they are still there. right now i`m going outside to check the oil. this car had the heck ran out of it yesterday for 210 miles and i sure had fun. p.s. it took 10.3 gallons to fill it back up.
