Default Oil Temp Sensor

Are there two separate sensors for oil temp (analog and digital)?
Anyone know where analog sensor is located?

Yun,

Where do you see Oil Temp digitally?

Temp horizontal front of Oil filter adapter, light is vertical pointed down and gauge is vertical on top! I believe!

David,

94s you can scroll trough coolat temp, voltage and oil temp numerically on trip computer screen (inst. mpg, ave. mpg and range). I don't think my 91 had digital gauge.

Reason I am asking is that oil temp digital reading is accurate but the analog gauge reads hopelessly low. So, I was wondering if there are separate senders. Based on experience when readings were off it typically was due to faulty sending unit and rarely the gauge.

Correct the 92 model was the first year the LT5 was graced with this option when the base model went over to the LT1 motor vice the L98. MY90s and MY91s did not have this option with the addition of the "Gauges" button 92 and up

The analog oil pressure gauge its the sending unit on top of the oil filter housing. I know this as several years ago mine dropped to zero!!!!

Also using the Red Service Manual you can get all the same detail by reading the Digital C60 display on the AC next to the correct codes for the M& 90- MY91 models. GC

So there is a separate sending unit for the analog gauge?
Is this it?

Crap I read this wrong what I was refering too was the oil pressure switch. I am not sure on the oil temp I do believe that is the correct switch for oil temp

I recall in an FSM one time maybe seeing it mentioned that the oil temp has to be a certain value for so long before it will actually record a low level light or something of the sorts so I suspect that the single unit supplies both and you've maybe an analog gauge challenge. The LT1's etc seem to be the same. I don't ever recall seeing that on an earlier model and the CCM change came along with the LT1 so the '92+MY works for me.

*There's a descriptive note with the temp sensor that it's also used for the oil life indicator and it's a 3 pin switch so I believe it's all on the single sender. It's still available I wouldn't rush into a panic buy. It's a shame it's so difficult to get to!

It would be interesting to have others confirm the reading comparisons digitally compared to the analog display! Maybe there's no cause for concern. What are your values? Is the digital a *C or a *F?

Digital display can be toggled between metric and english.
