90 clutch master to slave hydraulic line available?
Does anyone have a source for the 1990 style hydraulic line from the master to the slave? (Yes, I know I could update to the 91+ slave and get the 91+ line)
-background- Initially after the clutch install, I pumped the clutch 50 times or so and it stiffened up nicely. Since then, I can’t get the air out of the system, and after a day or so of sitting, or after driving it a while, the clutch gets soft again. I’m able to “bleed” it and restore good pedal feel by pumping the clutch 50 – 100 times. There will be air bubbles in the master cylinder reservoir. Sometimes there are just tiny bubbles, but in other sessions some medium size bubbles will appear. I can’t locate any leaks around either the mater or the slave. Now, I haven’t removed the slave from the housing yet. Hopefully on Wednesday I’ll have time to pull off the slave cylinder and see if I can tell if it’s leaking inside (if it cools down below 100*) I know the master was replaced at one time in the past. The slave is the original design (bleeder on top) for a 90. I’m sure I must have a leak somewhere (master, slave, or line) in order to still have air in the system 3 weeks after changing the clutch. I'm not sure of the design of the hydraulic line. Is there an inner core? Could it possibly have small internal cracks that's letting in air? TIA, Gary |

Any hydraulic shop should be able to fabricate a line for you, if you suspect it's bad, and you can't find a replacement.
At least with the later 91+ version, it's a part that seldom fails. I don't know about the 90 version.

I think you'd be better off focusing on the slave cyl.

It is the slave cylinder causing you headaches..
Do yourself a favor and call Jim and http://powertorquesystems.com/ Tell him you are on the registry and you will get a discount, Jim is an awesome guy to talk to and I would suggest you get a new Master and Slave and do them both. don't waste your time on the Cast stuff. I replaced my stuff this year and I have the 91- up stuff that makes it easier to bleed.. the 1990 does not have the braided clutch line and if you can get one of those then you are all set..

Re: 90 clutch master to slave hydraulic line available?
Thanks for the replies. I have talked with Jim (I got my clutch disc and PP from Jim). It'd be easier and cheaper to just change the slave with the current style (Jim says the 89-90 is easier to bleed, if needed). If I have a line problem, then I'd go with 91+ style.
Just thinking out loud and looking for options. Maybe it'll be obvious when I pull the slave off tomorrow. |

Quote:
If you find that the line is too tight and and open end wrench knocks off the ears of the nut then use vice grips to clamp on tight (after using WD40). Worked for me. Good luck.
