Default ZR-1 without LTPWS?

Does anyone know if any ZR-1's were built without the LTPWS system? I have a 1992 ZR-1 and when I bought it it in 2007 had no sensors. It was originally sold in Canada eh! This winter (yes it's still winter here) I'm doing a bunch of upgrades so I decided to get the sensors. When I dug into the dash and removed the DIC there are no bulbs or wires or sockets to put them in. I'm not really sure what it is supposed to look like in there. There is a blue connector just sitting there not attached to anything. Can someone show me what it's supposed to look like. I would like to have a working system, but I don't even know if the module is there.

Whats your build sheet say for your car or the window sticker? Will tell you fast whats susposed to be there? If you dont have either you can order from the Corvette Museum.

There is also the list of RPO's under the lid on the center console lid, no?

I seem to remember something about the Canadian cars and some RF rule concerning our LTPWS .... I just can't remember what it was. You could go over to Corvette Action Center and ask Rob L. ( the site administrator ) as he owns a 90 Z Canada car.

Just another data point, our 91 was CA delivered and has no LTPWS.

Don't know if the feature was common or normal on US deliveries.

Cheers, eh?

Rich,

Yes your car build doesn't include UJ6 (LTPWS). You can confirm that on your SPID label. How to add it? I don't know.

If you were wanting just a "functional" LTPWS system there are some after-market systems that function much better than just the low-pressure warning, they actually display tire pressures. I would think it also substantially less expensive than adding the original. There are rim mount and valve stem mounting styles available I believe. Valve stem mount would be just a deflate, break down one side, install, inflate and drive off!

Until you asked I certainly didn't realize that it wasn't included in the Canadian builds!

Your RPO's that I expected Z49 (Mandatory Canadian equipment), U19 (Metric speedometer), V73 (Canada/US vehicle statement) and T61 (Daytime running lamps) are present.

Thanks to everyone who has responded. Although I didn't see the UJ6 listed, I just assumed that since "all ZR-1's" would have that, they didn't list it. Naive of me I guess. Now I have to decide what to do. I bought a nearly new set of '93 wheels this fall, which came with sensors and was going to use them. Then I found out the system was changed after '92 so I bought a complete set of the '92 sensors. I don't know what I need to put a stock system in but that's what I'd like to do or an alternative like you mentioned. Guess I'm in for some research. I'm sure glad the Internet exists. I really don't know what I'd do without it, and not just for the car stuff.

There were 11 Canadian export ZR-1's in 1992. Of those, only one was Yellow, #31.

Interestingly, in 1993 and on, the Canadian export ZR-1's did have Low Tire Pressure Warning System installed.

Good luck with your project.

Just a thought: The change in Sensors, Different Module Part# starting in 1993. 1993 and later Canadian Export ZR-1's equipped with LTPWS. Someone mentioned RF problems. I wonder if the change in '93 was not just a sensor upgrade, but an RF one as well to meet Canadian requirements. Enquiring minds want to know.

I doubt it its probably more reasonable to assume the RF problem really wasnt a problem after all. The LTPWS has been in C4s since 1989. Who really knows
