Default Seat conversion...

Has anyone put the later 94-96 seats in their 90-93 car? If so how did you handle the electical hookups and controls?

A few of us have done so... GoldCylon and I have 96 collector's edition seats, the fore/aft controls work just like stock but there's no ability to control the bolsters or lumbar support. I've toyed with the idea of trying to retrofit the 94-96 bolster controls, but it's very low on my list of things to do.

100% stated correct as Andrew stated above

I have the 94+ base seats in mine. They are pretty comfy but not as supportive as the early sport models.
I took them out and weighed them a long time ago but I forget what I came up with. I just remember they were quite shockingly light - I recall thinking that I wasn't going to save any weight by going aftermarket.

Bob, you still have them?
What color? (need black)
They for sale/trade for 1991 seats?

Pete

You could take the 94-96 sport seat controls and harnesses and swap that in the car as well. unless you are just doing the 94-96 base, then there is no real issue on the electrical side

Yeah, that would probably work. I like the illuminated seat controls in the 90-91, so I didn't want to lose that. One day I'll sit down with the wiring diagrams and see if I can retain the illuminated controls and splice in the bolster controls in a hidden location such as the center console.

Pete, the later seats are lighter, I think the lack of a plastic backing tray has a lot to do with it.
