Steel Blue ZR-1
There has been a nice '91 steel blue Z on the 'Bay for awhile now that I have been watching, it's one of those 7 "barn-find" Z's. Top end is ported, 4:09 rear gears, watson engineering headers and a custom mandrel bent 3" exhaust system from the headers back, no cats. Car looks to be in very good condition.
The price has been at $15,995 for a long time now which considering the mods and the rare color is a very good price even though the mileage is a bit high at 107K. Looks like it just sold for, get this, $13,995!! Damnit if I had some money, I would have bought that Z already. That is a lot of ZR-1 for only $14K, someone got a smokin' deal! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Re: Steel Blue ZR-1
The color makes that ZR-1 attractive - the mileage not so much. Especially with a car with those types of mods and at a dealer to boot. The car could have had the **** beat out of it. Yeah, I know Z's can take the punishment but still..........
The car sat for a long time which also indicates issues when a Z is priced fairly for the market. Also, that Z is a repaint which is not attractive at all. Not saying its not alot of bang for the buck but it could also fool you as well. It could be headed towards a bunch of expensive repairs. I think that was a fair deal considering the mods. But, I have seen much nicer cars for a few grand to $5,000 with half the mileage. |

Re: Steel Blue ZR-1
I'm not certain but believe that car belonged to ZR1FRED in AZ. Glad to hear it's finally found a home.
There has also been a low-mile '91 steel blue for sale outside of Orlando for several months. I think it's listed on autotrader now for around $24K, but when I spoke to the guy last fall he seemed pretty motivated to sell. The car only has 18K miles on it. |

Re: Steel Blue ZR-1
Hmm, didn't realize it was repainted. That does change things.

Re: Steel Blue ZR-1
The mods were on the car before I bought it. That particular one didn't sit, I drove it. I was going to buy the car back, but I wasn't impressed with the new paint job on it, and I got a chance to buy a 95 ZR-1. Just before I bought it, Paul drove into the back of someone. I asked him not to fix it, but he did, poorly, I thought. It was a minor accident which only gouged the hood. The reason Randy painted it was clearcoat issues, but he never redid the hood, and he had changed painters. It was fast (mid 12 time slips) and was in great shape mechanically. Somebody somewhere got a great car, and is going to have a lot of fun. Ironically, it just sold for very close to what I paid for it in 2003. Hopefully the new owner will stop in here.

The mileage is probably actual. It was stock except for a Borla exhaust many years ago.
