Taking my Z to the 1/8 mile track on Wednesday
I know the Z is more geared for the 1/4 mile but I am also taking my '64 Nova as well so its going to be a day full of flogging!
I took the Nova to the track a couple weeks ago and ran a 6.80 at 101mph. That was also with slicks and a 1.499 '60 foot What should i expect with the Z? She has stock tires and 4.30 gears so I will be more curious with the MPH to get a true indicator of how the car is running. Those of you with timeslips, did your 1/8 and 1/4 mile times match to sites such as these: http://www.fl-thirdgen.org/quartermileconversion.html What do you all think it will run: -92 Z with 88k miles -K&N with cutout lid -Jeal headers -Stock exhaust with X-pipe and Dynomax mufflers -4.30 gears -Corey Henderson tuned chip

Lee, i think he should go a bit faster.
If you can get/stay under 2.0 60ft I would guess around 8.5 at about 90 +- depending on his driving. The chart you posted is on the money i ran 1/8 7.1 @ 100 1/4 11.09 @ 129

i would guess around 8.5-9.0 at 86-88 mph . your going to have to be really care full off the line .also you might try short shifting the 1-2 shift to limit wheel spin .

Probably right time is will be 8.4-8.7...altough MPH might still be in the 85-87 range....will be interested to see, your car makes good power with the mods

Re: Taking my Z to the 1/8 mile track on Wednesday
i didnt see the 375. old guy i guess . if the da is less than 500 he might hit 89-90 but the unknown is 430s and street tires . going to need a very slow soft foot grasshopper . and maybe short shifting into second to avoid big wheel spin there .. if youi get et streets make sure you ck the ujoints before you go .if there are any zerks on the half shaft ujoints replace them before you go. breaking a 1/2 shaft u joint can be very distructive to ones wallet

They were $213 a piece through Jeg's. I got mine through a local distributor, though, to save me some money on shipping.
Let's see how these work tomorrow before you plunk down some money lol

I'm also running the same MT DRs for strip use. They hook up great when heated up with a good burn-out and the pressure down around 16-17 psi. With your 4.30 gears you should see some decent 60ft times, 1.85-1.90 sec launching at 3k if the track is hooking.
