Re: Can ANYBODY help a brother out,ABS is dead and I give up.
Found this....
Had a similar problem six months ago with the ABS light coming on while stopping. Would stay on till I shut the motor off. Restart and all was OK till next hard brake application. All fuilds were in good shape level wise but kind of tired in terms of age. One Sunday I hooked my MytyVac brake bleeder to the ABS bleed port in the ABS vault behind the driver seat. Apparently had some smal quantity of air that had precipitated over 16 years and it was moving around inside the ABS valve system. Hard braking would initiate ABS activity and thus trigger the event. Since air is compressible the system barfed a alert. I bled out a couple of 1/2 cc. bubbles and about 1/2 a shot glass of brake fuild till no more bubbles appeared (just to be sure since it's so cheap) and haven't had an issue since.

Re: Can ANYBODY help a brother out,ABS is dead and I give up.
I live kinda far from you (a little over 3 hours, but same state at least, lol!), but I'd be willing to drive up there and give a ZR-1 brother a hand. I'd love to hear a ZR-1 in person (maybe a spirited ride too? ). The $100 would cover my gas costs (my truck is a gas hog, lol).
I don't have any experience with the ABS system specifically, but I'm pretty good with electronics & troubleshooting. Maybe I could bring some of the ABS components of my '90 ZR-1 for testing purposes (though if the systems are completely different, that might not work). If you still have that Tech 1 tester, I could also try my hand at that. Let me know.

-Check Stop/Haz Fuese
-Check Brake fuse -Check Inj 1 fuse -Check Fusible Link J -Check Pump motor relay and solenoid Valve Relay are seated -Check CMC is properly mated -Check Brake Fluid Level *Release park brake, Turn ing to Run ....Antilock will light for several seconds *Antilock should light when cranking Most of the diagnostics require the Testing system

Does the controller have power going to it? It's odd that it won't at least enter the diagnostic mode.
You don't have the ABS light on, right, it just won't engage? And the bulb is good, it lights up at key-on?
