Re: Last Chance Drag Race
I went today and it was a super weather day at Byron, IL. Temps got up to 72F. Very easy to hot lap today with hardly anyone there. Tried some of the Ranger tips. Changing the clutch fluid really made a difference in the shifting. However, trying to hold the rpm at the line was difficult. My best 60' was a 2.1. Best run was a 12.9 @ 117.26
I ran a DA correction for both this run and the runs I did at Great Lakes in September. Today's run was corrected to 12.6@119.8. The GLD run was 13.0@118.6 corrected to 12.7@120. So pretty consistent. I need DRs badly. Found that best psi was 29.5 hot. |

Yeah, that seems to be a long time issue with your car - getting the power on the ground. I remember hearing the rpm runaway at US41 a year ago, even in second gear. Your trap speeds say you have the power to do better, but it ain't getting to the ground, or so it seems to me as well.
For comparison, my (stock) 90 ran 13.1 at 111mph the day you were running 12.8 and 12.7 ish at around 118. (Anyone smell rubber burning?) P.

Re: Last Chance Drag Race
Paul,
That's why at this point I use the track to tune for hp using trap speed. Real world dyno with ALL the factors thrown in. |

Re: Last Chance Drag Race
There's a LOT to be said for that. Back in the day, a stretch of blacktop and a stop watch and 4th gear was what we used. Problem was the limited number of data points (just one - was a handful for someone doing it themselves). Course, we were limited as to what could be done too: Lessee... #34 jets or #36s? Course, weather conditions on any given day frustrated results as much as differences between dyno calibrations do now.
