oil change
Time to change the oil. My Z is burning a little oil. Is there any harm in putting 10W-40 in it? My thought is a little heavier oil will fill the gaps and slow the oil loss. Also, it doesn't look like I'm going to make it the SGC weekend this year. Inlaws are in town. At least I'll give them a ride in the red rocket and show them what a 15 year old car can do! Thanks in advance

Re: oil change
Yes in fact I wouldn't put 5w oil in. It's too light.

Re: oil change
Just two cents from a rookie owner. Are you sure it is using the oil & not leaking it. Only reason I ask is that I just had to go under the plenum and was horrified to see how loose the breather box cover bolts were on mine. What a mess it made. It was so bad that I was getting oil from the valley drain tube exit staining my oil pan in that corner!
Sorry to butt in with my lack of experience. I had actually thought mine was using it also till I looked between the Alternator & fuel rail down with a flash light & saw the oil all over the place down there! I used to go on a cruise & had to add about 1/2 Qt every 500 miles or so to top it up. I would let it sit for 24 before checking too! Since I changed the gasket & torqued the bolts I've been thru two tanks & no oil loss! Tom btw, I use Mobil 1 full syn. 10w-30 before & after.
