Default Service ride control light..

Rear shocks have been leaking for awhile..Picked up a good used set from a member awhile back..

Car was in for CV joints the last few days so I told my mechanic to swap out the rear shocks for me....

Service ride control light is on now...

What's the steps to eliminate this?
Shocks I put in seemed to be in working order...

Same happened to me when I put in new shocks. My Wazoo brothers told me don't worry about it and just drive. The system has to relearn and when it is done the light will go off. They were correct. Can't remember how long it took but it will go off.

SRC does not have a "learning" capability.

If the service ride control light was on then went off, the problem, whatever it was, went away. The SRC controller is like others on the car in that after a certain amount of cycles with the fault not present, the controller turns the service light off.

That’s the case if the key was switched on and off 3 times without the car rolling I’m not aware of any learning after the shocks are installed I know the system will run a test and if something is out of wack the light will go on and stay on. Best thing to do is check the codes and see what it is complaining about.

I currently have the same problem after I installed new shocks back I bought the car in 2009. It went out but It came back on in the last few weeks. I asked Gordon about it and he said tighten down the nut as they will work loose. I haven’t done it yet but I will next week.

Based on my experience, when I installed a brand new set, it took a while for selective ride system to function properly and turn off the the warning linght. I think this was due to new shocks having a bit of resistance in turning the gear on top which loosened up after a while.
When gear is turning freely (as in used shock), as mentioned below, for fronts, I would check gear to planetary gear in actuator relationship. Look for crushed rubber bushing below the cup or cup being too loose.

Vette73... jump the pins and get your fault codes. It will be pretty straight forward after that. Until you do that, you are just guessing.

Since I was mistaken on the SRC "learning" it now came back to bite me. Now my Service Ride Control light is on!!! Shows a code 21 which is left front time out. I hope it is the small gear on top of the shock as that is a simple fix and did it a few years ago.
