Cumberland Maryland-Rocky Gap Fun Run Day
Just to shop general routing did a Reston to Rocky Gap MapQuest... obviously there are numberous routings available..mapquest shows the Rt 7 to Leesbury to Rt 15 route whereas most of the time I take the Rt 66 to RT 495 to RT 270 routing. We can out meet points and routing once we get things firmed up.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Rest...:::::f:EN:M:/e This is our primary destination where we will have lunch etc>> http://www.rockygapresort.com/ Go to this link and click on Lakeside Lounge>> http://www.rockygapresort.com/maryla...ort-dining.cfm Since we will be driving in the mountains of Western Maryland this is a possible group photo shot site... Sidling Cut which is about 15 minutes from Rocky Gap on the way there (sorry...last time I drove up there it was in my C6)>>> And here is a view near Rocky Gap looking back at the cut (about in the middle horizon>> And this is the group that is promoting road rallying/autocrossing etc in the Cumberland area>> http://www.nationalroadrally.com/ I can arrange all the details (confirm routing and confirming pick up points, lunch details at Rocky Gap etc etc) BUT the hard part is locking in on a date... I think early July was mentioned but some were liking May (after C4/ZR-1 Bash) or mid June. I will be doing a run up there within the next couple weeks so if anyone wants to join me just shout...

Re: Cumberland Maryland-Rocky Gap Fun Run Day
If the goal is a nice drive, 7 out to 9 out to I-81 and up to I-70 might be a little more fun? Some parts of 9 in WV are windy, though a little bit public. It's not one of America's best driving roads, but for the area it's not too shabby.
Let me know when you run the recon drive, I'll see if I can make it.

Re: Cumberland Maryland-Rocky Gap Fun Run Day
Looks like we will be doing a 'dry run' to verify routings, book seats at Rocky Gap Lakeside restaurant, timing etc etc on 4/25 or 4/26. Actual full event would be mid June...more later.

Re: Cumberland Maryland-Rocky Gap Fun Run Day
Have to start the day with the hard question
I think I will drive the 495 to 270 to 40/68 route...Rich, you (Phil?) and I could meet up and drive together while the Maryland boys could migrate to 270 to 70/40/68 Bob...if you are coming probably the Rt 15 to 70/40/68 works for you So looks like all roads lead to Frederick MD>> Does anyone know Frederick and can suggest a meet point? Dave... have you confirmed for Saturday with the Doc? Meet there in the morning then drive to Rocky Gap for lunch? Depending what Dave answers we would meet in Frederick at 9:30 am or at 11:00 am...so stand by untill Mr. Dave gets back to us. Looks like a really nice day!
