Default '90 - '91 oil temperature gauge sensor

Look like the sensor is no longer available. Main difference seems to be the size.

Earlier years seema to be 1/4" and the latter seems to be bigger....maybe a 3/8".

Anyone know where I can find one?

I got the old one out in about 2 or 3 minutes with a small breaker bar (for swiveling reasons), a few extensions, a deep socket and a swivel end. I got in from an angle near the a/c lines and small coolant lines.

What is the difference between the available coolant temperature sensors? They are available, 1/4" and they measure the temp of a fluid.

Jerry's gaskets does not have it in stock (I sent you a email) and I am in need of one.

Btw the '93 I have has a built motor from a '90 thus the reason for the early model unit.

Anyone have a lead on one?

Thanks.

Looks like a standard 3 prong coolant sensor.

The connection harness is the same for a couple of LS coolant sensors I have found but the mounting flange is a little different and it is not as long a sensor.

Karl,
I shipped one out to you today. It's new. I removed it from a new Oil Filter Housing Assembly.

Sensor is in and connected in about 5 minutes.

Pics and tips for anyone who wants to know.

It took more time to get the connector tab on than to secure the sensor.

Job done in under 5 minutes.

Now I am in need of one of these, if I want my gauge to work. Any ideas on one somewhere?

In all seriousness I think any oil sensor will work as long as it plugs up and fits the thread size.

Per Marc...

92-95 will work.. there is a bushing ( fitting) that allows for the smaller size sensor

90-91 1/8 NPT

92-95 1/4 NPT

Odds are any sensor with a 1/8" npt will work in your car. Assuming the harness plug up is the same.

Most of these GM sensor are universal.

You may want to ask Jerry to see if he has an extra around.

FWIW I am using a iat sensor from a 2002 - 2006 Buick Rendezvous. Only difference is it is made of plastic vs metal. I have the sensor in my cold air intake and the original one still in the air horn.
