Clicking from the Passenger side rear half shaft.
Hey all, it’s been a while.
I just started driving the Z last week after sitting for a while and I’m starting to notice a sharp clicking sound when I slowly let out the clutch and the car begins to move... I’ve shocked the lugs and cannot seem to find any play in the half shafts There is no vibration at any speed and the noise is only present during stop start in either direction.. Are there any known issues that could be causing this noise? Thanks for any assistance... |

Re: Clicking from the Passenger side rear half shaft.
One possibility - and a common problem - is the splines need de-rusting (brushing clean) and lubing. Here is a thread which may help, if that's the problem...

G, That is exactly what fixed my passenger side clicking noise. I went ahead and did the driver’s side too while I was at it. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

Yes, not a difficult job, but takes a bit of time to do properly with the right tools.

I agree G! If not for the help of members on forums, service manual, and YouTube I would have been afraid to tackle it. It was easy to do with all the resources we have available to us today. Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry
