Default WMD - Saturday, 19 December 15

Hello WAZOO There will be a long over due Maintenance Day in Westminster on Saturday, December 19th. The primary task will be to replace the heater core in Charlie's ZR-1.

LOCATION will be Nelson's Garage, just a few miles north of Westminster.

Start time is 9:00 AM, but come when you can an stay as long as you like.

There will be a caravan of ZR-1's from my house (195 W Main St) to Nelson's place departing at 8:30 AM. I promise that I know a route to Nelson's that will be a fun drive.

If you need directions to Nelson's call or email me (443-244-1347).

I hope to see you on Saturday.

Jim

Jim,

I had to take a short-term command position at RAF Digby, UK, and will be here until late Feb so I'm going to miss out on this again. Have a good time and hope to see you all in the spring!

Cheers,
Scott

CHANGE OF PLANS

WMD will be at Jim's Garage this coming Saturday.

After checking the weather forecast, the work to be done, and the large volume of Nelson's cavernous barn that we would have to try to heat, the WMD Executive Committee has decided to relocate the event to Jim's Garage at 195 W Main St in Westminster.

I guess the December Spring we have been enjoying wasn't going to last forever.

I look forward to seeing everybody at my house on Saturday.

Sorry fellers but I'm at work for 24 hours on Saturday. Good luck with the replacement of GM ZR-1 part #000000000001. See everyone next time.

I was hoping to make the WMD this Saturday, to acquire some new knowledge and some of Charlie's BBQ. Sadly, something else has come up at the last minute so I'll have to pass. Have fun, guys, and Happy Holidays to all.

It was 27 degrees in Westminster on WMD morning. The group arrived promptly and we got some heaters going and the day went well.

The replacement of Charlie's heater core was completed with no issues. We removed the dash pad and all of the other interference listed in the Service Manual and the heater core pulled right out of the firewall.

It took us 12 hours to do the job. Removal of the dash pad is not difficult, there are just a lot of trim pieces to remove to get to the four screws that attach the dash pad.

Thanks to Nelson for his expertise on dash pad removal: "Just yank on it!"

The most important part of the job is to have a good "bag man" to put all the screws and bolts in labeled zip-lock bags. It makes reassembly much easier.

Thanks to Charlie for feeding all of us lunch. His pulled pork was excellent.
