Default A Great Big Thank You, To Jim Vandorn & The boys.

On Saturday I was heading to the Museum, from the holiday inn.
as i was gently merging down the ramp onto I-65, Uly and I heard what sounded like a gun shot.... I pulled over, and we discovered my right rear tire, had accepted a foreign object, which turned out to be a piece of flat metal about 3 inches long and and inch wide. Flat immediatley

Tom Tom was following us, and pulled in behind. What to do?
We are a very lucky group indeed, because located on the opposite side of the interstate, from the Corvette Museum,
is a Repair shop, manned by one of our own,

Jim Vandorn, Automasters of Bowling Green, http://www.automastersofbg.com/

Tom and Uly, took off to Jim's, to see if he had a tire that would get me off the side of the interstate.
( After market wheels, i forgot the lug wrench)
Soon thereafter, the Kentucky Highway Safety truck arrived, which is an awesome free service, he assesed my problem pulled out a floor jack, whipped out his cordless , and removed my lug nuts.

Minutes later Tom and Uly arrived back to my location, with a proper sized rear, ZR1 tire and wheel, ready to go. Loaned to me by Jim VD. The Ky. Safety guy, slapped it on, and we were on the road again. I tipped my hat and Roger the safety dude both.

Upon arriving at Auto Masters of BG, Jim informed me he had another tire he could mount on my rim to get me home. Here's the kicker, Ted and I drove through BG, searching for a tire store that was open, (Thanks Ted) all tire stores are closed on saturday and sunday.

Back to Auto Masters,
Jim, mounted my tire, spun balanced it, and i was road ready, no donut drive home. When i attempted to settle my bill with Jim, he refused payment, I insisted, he explained that it was a tire left over, not being used, I left him cash tucked under an ashtray.

I can't thank Jim enough, he anwsered the bell, above the call of duty.

It for sure isn't just the car, It's the people, Thanks all involved.

(Wifey and our little dog thank you)

Cool Re: A Great Big Thank You, To Jim Vandorn & The boys.

Always great to hear stories like this as we all have a special bond with fellow ZR-1 owners. JVD has had a sterling reputation over the years, and this is just another example of it.

I AGREE!!! Jim has done many similar acts of kindness for me and many of my Corvette friends. He's a one-in-a-million and never talks about all the good deeds he has done for others. Thanks for telling your story for all to read.
