Horn electrical diagnosis
Has anyone ever had an electrical problem with their horns on a ZR1? My horns do not operate using horn buttons on streering wheel. Horns both work for theft deterrent system. Are the contacts on the steering wheel a problem area?
When I checked the Helms manual it said to check horn relay and fuses first. I would think if the system works for the theft deterrent system then it must be the horn button contacts. Thoughts?? Thanks, John |

Re: Horn electrical diagnosis
Hi Jrd1990zr1,
i have had the same problem with my 1990 Z. I repared it in thise mode: -Disconnect the battery -Remove air bag, there are 2 or 4(i don't remember) screw (torx) behind it -Remove the plastic button of the horn Now you have the contacts under your eyes. The problem is the spring doesn't make contact. I clean with screwdriver the contact an put some wd40. I put the spring and the contact into the hole and i stopped it with a piece of rubber.Repeate the operation for both button. Sorry for my english, i hope that you understand me. After this operation the horn run great!!! Bye |
