Default Two Nice Reads in the Rags

Hi fellow ZR-1 brothers. Today I'm excited. After looking at the Barret Jackson thread over on the CF, I felt proud to be a ZR-1 owner. Not because of the figures the cars are selling at, but for the recognition that were finally getting. These phenomenal cars are starting to make their mark in history all over again.

I went into my local magazine/book store today, picked up my latte and went over to the rag rack scouring the mags for the newest Corvette publications. Much to my surprise, as I picked up the latest Corvette & Chevy Trader, I see it was graced with a beautiful Comp Yellow ZR-1 on the cover. I opened it up to find the usual statistics and a fairly accurate description on the history of the LT5 and the ZR-1 in general.

Next, I looked a bit further and saw that Vette Magazine also has a special C4 ZR-1 section in this issue! Sweet!! Again, nice write ups and some interesting cars. As an added bonus they mention a few familiar names like Tyler Townsley and the regulars ie: Kilebrew, Hill etc. etc. In addition theres an article on a sweet 415 owned by Sanjay Metha, whose name I also recognized.

I would like to think that among all the bad news of the economy and everything thats happening with GM, theres a silver lining for our group. The ZR-1 is finally turning the corner in both value and recognition as a world class supercar. I wish I had some REAL money, I'd love to own one of every year ZR-1 made.

Puff out your chests & hold your chins high brothers of the Beast, the spotlight is on us!!

Nice post. I agree. People won't remember all the details of the specific car, but they will be talking about the ZR-1's that sold for over $100,000! Good news for us.

Are you coming to BG again this year?

Jim

Right on brother Might be the year and on for the ZR-1. Even though I am a ZR owner by one year I am always proud of the ZR and sometimes act like a evangelical preacher when talking to others about our breed..interesting some of the hardest converts are within our own Corvette ranks

I agree. It was nice to see the Z get some time on TV at BJ. I didn't like the anouncer who kept bashing the LT5. He kept talking about the fact that you don't have to have a complicated engine to make HP. Maybe I am just a little sensitive.

I'm feeling you on that one, Roger. I just kept thinking to myself, " but most of the world uses DOHC/4 valve engines, wtf!?"......even my DD has a DOHC/4 valve engine, and it's a stinking Cobalt!!!! There is no magic in the concept!?!

I guess I'm too sensitive too!

i'm with ya...i mean like everyone else on here, what's been going on the last few days at B-J is nothing but good, for sure, especially compared to past years, announcers would bang on the ZR-1/LT-5 every chance they'd get. one thing i laughed about, when the ZR-2 sold, i think Steve M. said something like he'd take the Torque of that big block & walk on the LT-5...ya whatever. i'm pretty sure that big block was a 230 HP pig out of a 454 SS truck, maybe it made 310 lbs/ft. of Torque or something lame like that. throw another 200+lbs on the nose of a C-4 & see how much it likes that, too boot. still, overall some good comments on SPEED CHANNEL, for a change.

Media Nuggets form BJ

Well at least the Cadillac Pace car had the "Good Engine" in it the Northstar

And im not sure about the Nasa space junk comment when presenting the Active Handling ZR-1 was a plus.

But at least the ZR-1 got some media face time and im with you Ryan that 454 was prob a pig
