Who's ZR1 was at the Texas Mile?
Here is a pic i saw from this years Texas mile. Any idea who's Z this is? Any idea what speed it ran? What's been done to it?

 A '91+ "Turq" car with '90 wheels on it. That's OK, I actually like the "Salad Shooters" better than the "Saw Blades". What caught my eye more than anything else, is that the wheels are on the wrong sides. I don't get it. The wheels are marked. They clearly say "Right Hand" and "Left Hand" on the inner wheel. And people still manage to put them on wrong sides and not notice it.  *sigh* TomC "Crabs"

It's Rick from Austin. The engine has an early Vette Doctors top end and I think it ran 165.

Yes it was me.
I didn't know my wheels were on backwards!!!!! I just put them on because the Vredesteins are the softest tires I have at the moment. I'm an idiot. My car has made 6 total passes at the texas mile. Best MPH is 170.281. Like Glen Said, it's got some top end work from the vette doctors including Jeal cams, then Watson's, 4:09's, Dewitts Radiator, RW thrermostat, I did coilovers from Rippie, Samco hoses, triple take, coolant to plenum delete mod that I did...I guess about everything you can do to a stock displacement car. It puts down 410hp. On safety stuff it has a rollbar and turquoise harnesses from M&R that are very .The only real serious trouble the car has ever given me since I bought it 9/01 was a code 43 issue. I almost sold the car over that one, but Z-industries got me taken care of on that by doing some magic on my mem-cal. One other thing is I can't track down is a horrible squeak in the back that I have been chasing for a couple of years and can't find. Otherwise no complaints, its a bad *** car, but I'm preachin' to the choir here  Thanks for asking... Rick

It wouldn't be the first time that the guys at the tire store put the wrong tires on the wrong wheel. The big advantage of putting the wheels on the right sides is that the holes were designed to force air into the openings and thus provide additional brake cooling. A very nice thing for people traveling at warp 170.281. That being said, if your Vredesteins ARE directional and you DID put them on the wrong sides AND the safety people didn't catch it... The Vredesteins are not directional, That is probably why I didn't care, kind of wierd when your looking at them...and after all, I am a '91 owner
 I'm putting my saw blades back on, I like them better just wish they had my softer tires. Rick =) |
