I am getting a short block and looking for a possible DIY project.

Long stroke crank cost $5000
Offset grind stock crank $500

I would do a low cost stroker 3.75" stroke with 4" liners makes 377ci
Should be very dependable and get you around 500rwhp

Offset grind?

I know we used to do this with SBC motors, but it's the first time I've heard of it with LT-5's. What rods do you use?

That's a ESS Ebert 396-402 set up.

I dont think he really has said what rod. I would think if you started 2.100 and you do your offset, you would end up with 2.00 small SBC (283-327).

That's what I remember. And you needed either custom rods, or an old set of 283 rods to be able to do it.

I don't think I want to use 283 rods in a motor going to 7k.

I'm going to be running Crower ML93002B4 rod. This is a 6.00 long 2.125 rod end (crank size 2.00 ). With the upgraded bolts, Crower say 900+hp 8k rpm.
My Moldex is 4.00 stroke.

I still stand with buy a car already done. I'm over 10k in the parts I have, and will spend atleast 10K more to finish.

I would stick with 4" bore and stock head gasket.
I wouldn't use a stock 283 rod i'd go with a good aftermarket rod.
