Power shifting: What say U?
With my '95 LT1, I would just hold the "peddle to the metal", pump the clutch and shift when the clutch peddle bumped the floor - letting the rev limiter "do its thing". Well, the ZR-1 is my dream car, and I tend to baby it - just a little - I don't power shift it...yet.
But, what do y'all do? Do you pulse the accellerator at the shift points, or let the limiter do it's thing? Just curious what some of Uz do with your Zs. BTW, Lee, that video of your car was terrific! LOVE that sound the LT5 makes!! P. Last edited by Paul Workman; 05-27-2008 at 10:38 AM. |

Re: Power shifting: What say U?
I lift a little when shifting at the drag strip. I'm back on it as my foot is letting the clutch out. I don't *think* I'm giving up any time that way. I imagine hitting the rev limiter might be more of a delay than lifting a little.

Paul:
The previous owner of my '90 liked to powershift, especially 1st to 2nd. Even though the car only had 9000 miles on it when I bought it, the 2nd gear synchros were already badly damaged. I tried to powershift it on two occasions and finished the job of destroying what was left of the synchros. Will I ever attempt to powershift it now that I've had to replace the transmission? Nope. Re: Power shifting: What say U?
Bill B talks about how to PS on his website but I haven't had enough nerve to try it. It seems to hit hard enough without that. Think he said it does need to bump off the floor or you'll be visiting his shop soon.

Re: Power shifting: What say U?
Definately not powershifting in the video....anyone have suggestions on launch from what you guys see? Although I did grind second pretty good on one run.

Re: Power shifting: What say U?
Worth a tenth, maybe. Not worth it IMO unless you are real good and real consistent at it.

If you heard it, it might already be too late to save the second gear synchros. Ask me how I know..... No wait, don't ask. You really don't want to know. If I were you I'd be starting a ZF6 slush fund. You'll need it. TomC
