Just to entertain you..yes another question>>
On the underside of the hood on the drivers side is this notation (looks like it was done grease pencil)>>>
From the build sheet I know the car came down the production line in 11/20/89 but also looking at the build sheet I see no reference to '6898-14' so anybody have a clue what this is? Also I want to 'cover' this notation so I was pondering to place a clear spray or a wide clear tape?? Comments?? Michael |

Just a thought, but maybe just photographing it as you've done? If it gets wiped out, you could reproduce it. I'd think that would be harder to tell it wasn't original than if there was clearcoat sprayed under the hood, or a film applied. That certainly isn't original.

Thats no factory marking I have ever seen.
Each hood had a build date scribed into it on the lower LH corner it can be very hard to see but it is there in the resin. jp

That looks the same as what I've found written on my half shafts & inside the rear 1/4'rs....I mean same number grouping and in yellow & black grease pen, not the same numbers. Maybe they forgot to clean it up? Does it match the engraved #'s on the hood that John is referring to?
I have only seen similar stuff on salvage yard parts, around NYC/metro area they used to write stuff like that, in any color grease pen, for the inventory control system...now they use bar code stickers. Curious, indeed. Tom
