Default Engineering the LT5

As a mechanical engineer myself, I delight in seeing the work of other people in my profession. Whenever I take a look at a certain component with an eye toward technical details I try my very hardest to keep an open mind and not to say things like "What the F was this idiot thinking when they designed this or signed off on this design." I believe that when a machine as complex as an automobile is built, the names of all the engineers who touched the project should be cataloged along with their contributions and this info made public. That way it would be very clear who deserves a raise and who deserves a painful death.

The later I would reserve for the person who was responsible for engineering the fasteners for the TPS on the LT5. M4.5X0.75 pitch! What the hell was this person thinking. Adding shame is the fact that they are aluminum in construction.

Perhaps I am overreacting but I would have this person shot if given the opportunity and a position of power. Some of you are maybe thinking that this choice of fastener is logical and justified but you are just wrong. There is absolutely no reason for this fastener to exist anywhere in the world. I have personal hatred for the engineer(s) that selected this fastener as they have wasted too much of my precious life.

Tells us how you really feel.

I agree with you that the engineers that designed a car should get recognition. One of the things that I like about the ZR-1 is that there is more information available about the design team and the design.

Reading Heart of the Beast will be an informative source of information regarding the LT5 evolution and those responsible for it.
