All,
Have a friend in Oregon that has a Red/Red 91 ZR1. He told me it is no way you can get 27-30 MPG on the Highway with the Key on. I told him when I drive up to the Seattle Area (Renton, Washington) from Portland Oregon (160 miles). When I fill up in Renton, I put in 5 1/2 to 6 gallons depending on how much fuel I can squeeze in the tank. He told me that is impossible, our secondaries must not be working or faulty. Last month we spent 15 days on the road in "The Beast". Put on 5,000 miles and averaged 24 mpg for the trip.
I have to admit that when on the flat land we were cruising with the key off (unless some extra boost was needed for passing on a two lane road ![]() There were a few days of "spirited" driving that impacted the daily averages. Best tank was 27+ mpg and the worst was 19+ mpg. So IMO the KOTH lived up to its window sticker claim of 25 mpg/highway. |

I've checked a few times both before and after installing Marc's chip (which defaults the power key on) usually get numbers around 27/28

I can't imagine why anyone would keep their key off while driving themselves, but even when it is on you can get great mileage as long as you don't get into it too often.
