Default LOTUS emblems anyone?

I saw this LOTUS emblem and took a pic of it (at the Morris Cruise Nite '18), and it occurred to me that an emblem made (in kind) like those that Lee Gaffgan has had made might be a nice tribute to put on the the ZR-1s "somewhere". I was thinking maybe on the engine, OR on the "gill panel" (under belt and the ZR-1 badge (or where that badge would go were the 90s to have a ZR-1 badge).

Thoughts???

Paul,
Here is my contact for that LOTUS emblem that you are looking for Linda Cordoza 530-906-7599 or 530-320-0617 e-mail address pinladystore@hotmail.com I have purchase (2) from her in the past, the two that I purchase were" lapel pins" approximately the size of a dime very old (50) years (+ ) and made of a quality ceramic material.
Linda will spend time looking for that emblem for you but it may take some time.

Good Luck

Paul, for the '95 I got some Lotus decals and put one in the rear window on each side below a Mercruiser decal. I gave one to Marc, who put it I believe on the underside of his hood. Never put actual emblems on the engine itself, since they were not stock. I don't remember where I got them but if you Google Lotus emblems and decals you will get a ton of options. BTW I once took the Z to a British car show and tried to get the Lotus club to allow the ZR-1 in with the Lotus group but they refused. Even though mid-'50s Nash Metropolitans were allowed in the show due to a dinky British Austin engine. Sadly, my Lotus decals didn't help much.--Bob

Hi Paul,
Did this last year. Found the aluminum badges on ebay. Just be careful putting them on straight the first time, they have a 3M adhesive on the back that sticks instantly, no room for error or any adjustments.

Man, that?s a gorgeous engine!
Is it hard to keep it looking like that?

My biggest concern with having the engine polished rather than refinishing it with paint was the maintenance. A few years back at the C4 Gathering in Bowling Green I saw Bob Lambe's (ZR1North) polished engine and it looked awesome. He had it polished a few years back and said if you coat it with Gibbs Penetrating Oil it will be protected from oxidation. When I told Bob I was sold on the idea he even sent me a leftover can. You just spray the oil onto a microfiber, wipe it on, let it sit for 15 minutes or so and then wipe it off. I have not touched my engine since it was polished by Marc almost 3 years ago. If I get dust or anything on it, just wipe it off with a damp microfiber cloth.

Is that what Gibbs is doing now that he's left NCIS?
How's that stuff work on wooden boats? 😀
