C4 mirrors in Japan
I am posting here for BigJohn since he asked me how I like export mirrors. My Z was shipped to Japan from California so no export mirrors. Instead of posting in another thread that is non-related when I first answered him, I figured a post should be here.
My friend in Japan that seems to be somewhat of a C4 expert gave the background about why only some C4s have foldable mirrors. It seems only the cars that were imported by YANASE had them and he said they are somewhat rare. A lot of people did not think they looked cool so some converted to stock style mirrors. I did not know this and wondered myself when Big John asked. I guess Chevrolet dealers were able to bring them in without mirror modification. Due to tight and narrow roads in Japan, the mirrors are suppose to fold when they hit an object or person to reduce injury or damage. Now you know.
