I?ve received the dreaded windshield chip right in the upper horizontal line of the radar cut out. Tried to get it fixed with no luck. The car has 11,000 miles on the clock. I need to make a decision whether to replace the windshield with an original or aftermarket. Any suggestions?

I have not done business with these guys, but just in doing research for possibly buying a ZR-1, I came across this site....

If it's not a huge chip you would be better off just leaving the original glass in my opinion. I had a few original zr-1 windshields years ago. They are hard to find but out there. Do a search or have a auto glass company search for you. The aftermarket windows look the same but won't have the correct LOF markings or date codes .

Is there a reason, other than originality, to go with the ZR-1 windshield? The standard C4 windshield is so much cheaper. What are you losing if you decide to go that route?

Usually potential buyer will use that as a negative and try to deduct money from the asking price. Other than that it might block some sun rays that's about it

I also bought a windshield from www.zr1windshield.com. Great quality and matches the original in all ways, other then LOF and date codes. Very expensive when compared to a regular c4 windshield, but in my case Hagerty paid the bill. Had the new windshield installed at Marty?s shop a few years ago. |

A glass company can repair the chip but likely it will not be a complete repair. I would find a glass company and tell them " I know it can't be fixed all the way, but fill it the best you can". I know the people at the zr1windshield , you can PM me if you wish, good people, just not cheap.
