How do you run a 1.8x or lower 60' time?
For those who have, how are you consistently running 1.8x or lower 60' times with a 6 speed 4th gen ZR-1?
Any specific or special technique? Burnout? Drag radials? Slicks? Feather the throttle? The 4th gen Z seems to have a history of difficult 60' times. Guess this is the reason some have swapped to an auto for those who actually race their car. I have never run better than a 2.1x 60' time and I know the car will run better. Thanks in advance.

315/35-17 DRs will get you there. Lower the pressure until you get 60’ times you want. Spindles will let you know if you tried to hard.

Ask Phil how he knows...............we had a great time at Mason Dixon drag strip. The Mustang club of Northern VA invited Wazoo to come out and play. Phil in the winners circle after smoking many of them. I even smoked a few but also got smoked when they hit that little button and scooted down the track. Lots of fun.

Re: How do you run a 1.8x or lower '60 time?
I am running a NITTO 335/30/18 drag radial. I had the car out yesterday and in the cool air it would not hook. Was in the mid 50's on standard asphalt and concrete.
Will be dropping the tire pressure and a light burnout next time. I am debating on putting the oem a-molds back on with a better tire in the rear.

At 70 degrees and up they should feel a lot stickier!

It’s tough to do with. Nitto drag radials i canget to 1.85 at best . I leave about 1800’and slowly roll into it . Going lower than20 psi make the times worse . I find for me doing a second gear. Burnout works best . Pete is someone to ask about this best time with headers and porter inj housing Is -2.10 at 119.47 it is on you tube under brad Taylor’s zr. 1

Other bad things that can happen. If you hook too well things in the back start breaking

It may be best to go down to 17" wheel like you are considering. Toyo Proxes TQ drag radials hooked better than Nitto drag radials on my blown foxbody, both sets were 275/40/17. The Toyo DR's are available as 315/35/17s if you're considering trying A molds.
Like mentioned above, things can break back there if you're too aggressive. I broke a half shaft on my first ZR-1 on my only pass in that car. That was with a 4k launch on Nitto DR's in the stock size.

Yes I hear things out back, namely the 2x some odd splines will break with good power and good grip out back.
I have steel half shafts so that should help. I'll text Pete and ask what he is doing. Last time we spoke about racing he was running I believe Nitro drag radials on the a mold wheels. Hopefully it will get warm here soon.
