Default Oil leak

Is anyone familiar with an oil leak under the plenum by the starter that runs down the back of the engine? I am told this is a common problem with the LT5 motor.

That would be the Valley Drain coming out just below the Bell Housing. Could be Injector Housings or crank case Cover Plate loose bolts. Or even Head Gasket but unlikely.

Remove Plenum, Clean Valley and Valley Drain and check ALL Injector Housing and Cover Plate bolts. When you are under there...…….I do a Typical Top End Restoration involving the Starter, All Bolts, Injectors, Vacuum System and Block TB Coolant.....see my signature for details

What you describe is not what I would call a "common Problem with the LT5".

Thanks for getting back to me. Is this something that can be done myself? How much would this type of repair cost at a shop?

If you can remove the Plenum which like anything else the more times you do it the easier it gets then you should be able to do a top end but you have to assess your own capabilities. Very few shops are familiar with the LT5 and I am sure someone in your area will post up with that advice.
