Aluminum flywheel.... new clutch?
Thinking about swapping out to an aluminum flywheel, do you have to or need to get a new clutch when swapping flywheel? Car a 92' has 20k miles so I'm assuming clutch wear is minimal.

Re: Aluminum flywheel.... new clutch?
FYI: converting from a dual mass flywheel will result in transmission rattle which is loudest when in neutral with clutch engaged.
The Fidanza FW weighs in at 13-14 lbs Jerrys Gaskets has custom manufactured aluminum FW’s at both 18 & 22 lbs. read more about applications & benefits; http://www.jerrysgaskets.com/flywhee...let-90-95-0b3/ http://www.jerrysgaskets.com/flywhee...let-90-95-0b1/ Sent from my iPhone using ZR-1 Net Registry

Re: Aluminum flywheel.... new clutch?
My fidanza sounds like a sawz-all at times up until 2,500 RPM......All though the motor will spin up much faster .....The gear rattle in neutral really doesn't bother me......I hear some have used a sprung hub disc to mitigate the noise.....
No,stock clutch can be used....I did and I was at 46 k... |

Re: Aluminum flywheel.... new clutch?
I have Fidanzas in three cars. I'd follow Jerry's suggestions.
If you choose Fidanza, I would replace the clutch disk and make sure it's a spring hub and minimum thickness. Be sure to clean the frictions surface on the flywheel. Ted |

Re: Aluminum flywheel.... new clutch?
I have a Spec SC66A-2 aluminum flywheel, 18lbs with a sprung hub clutch for a Camaro with rpm at ~800 rpms there is minimal to no rattle with this combo.
Works really good.
