I think Fast Lane Goldstien's ZR-1 ran in that time frame. I'm sure I have a video of him running around 8.8 at Beech Bend during a C4 Gathering.

Gee, why did I waste all those years banging on those synchros, when all I needed was an extra 1,400 hp. to granny shift into the 8:00’s ??
