For those of you that have replaced the thermostat on the LT5, how did you get the thermostat to stay in place while postioning the the housing back on? Thanks!

Re: Thermostat Installation
Thanks. The problem, that I am having, is the thermostat still popping out of position even though I used the putty knife. It leaked like a sieve. Tomorrow, I will use some permatex on it and see how that works. I did this long ago and did not have any problems.
Which bolt goes into the bracket - the short one or the long one?

Re: Thermostat Installation
Same as cliff... it's also easier to attach the short hose to the top of the thermostat housing and the radiator before attempting reassembly.
Here are some other tricks. Note the arrow or notch in the replacement thermostat as that is the direction the thermostat needs to face towards the radiator. Also the backside of the housing bolts are threaded through so you can shoot some PB lube on the backside of the bolts before attempting to loosen the bolts as they are prone to snapping. GC
