Today when driving the corvette my "Service Engine Soon" light came on and off during my drive today. I shut the car off, when I restart it the SES light was still on. I had my ALDL connector and ALDLDroid with me and it showed, Code 22 TPS too low. My idle was really high. I shut the car off and unplugged the IAC then restarted, same thing higher than normal idle. I got the TPS Code to clear and got on the road. On the way home it would turn on and off.
I got home and the SES was solid ON. Code 22 was still being displayed on my scanner. My car's idle was not good, higher than normal and shaky. There was a different type of smell coming from the exhaust as well. Could a bad TPS sensor cause this type of problem? It was just replaced last year by Mr. Haibeck. |

Maybe the sensor has failed already. There could be a problem with the cable or the connector. I wonder what the voltage is between pins A and B on the connector? The voltage between pins A and C?

I haven't done that testing. With my scanner plugged in, the TP percentage was 19%, and the voltage on the scanner was 0.00.
To do the testing you mention does the car need to be on and running? |

Perform the voltage measurements with the ignition on and the engine not running.
Tug on the cable to see if the motion effects the voltage readings. Is the connector plugged in until the retainer engages? |

I unplugged the TPS connector and checked voltages with a volt meter. PIN A and B hooked up showed 0 Volts. PIN A and C showed 4.99 volts.
I hooked up my scanner today and it seems to be reading okay with the engine off and cold. I was 0.52 volts on my scanner, and when at WOT it reads 4.72 volts. |

Might have a break in the wire that's connecting/disconnecting; I had that occur and every time the car started the engine raced
