Question fuel flowing from air intake

1990 ZR1: Started engine but after about 2 minutes it stalled. Tried to restart but no luck. Smelled gas and found large puddle at front of car. Removed air filter and found large amount of fuel coming out of the plenum. Any suggestions? Please?

Fuel pressure regulator might be bad or stuck injector pull the spark plugs out to purge out the raw gas so you dont bend a valve

When that happened to my car it was the fuel pressure regulator, leaking.

Thanks for the info. I'll try the pressure regulator first. Anybody else seen this happen?

I had a similar issue. Turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator also.

Hi,
I see two part numbers:
1990 to 1992 is 17112220
1993 to 1995 is 17069632
Are they interchangeable?

Thanks,
Bill

Is there any way to replace the diaphragm in the regulator?
That's pretty much the only part in them that could go bad...

I would say yes, it doesn't matter. On both sites mentioned, Jerrys and Rock auto, they both show the unit for 90-95. Jerrys site mentions the "220" number and Rock Auto mentions both the "220" & the "632" numbers. So there should not be a problem. They are in a few $$ of each other, but they should both work just fine.

BTW Bill, I see you are in Warminster, I am right next door in Warrington, have to get together sometime.....

Did you just change out the regulator or was there something else you had to do to complete the repair?
