Running hot?
Is this too hot? The outside temps were only around 65 degrees. IT seemed to run just fine on the highway right in the middle of the gauge. It could be a little low on coolant so I topped off the reservoir as it was a little low. The condenser looks pretty clean. So I don't think it was a air flow issue.

Re: Running hot?
Stock chip, no fan temp mods? The gauge is not linear. There is a post here somewhere that shows the approximate temps relative to the needle position.

Re: Running hot?
It may or may not have custom programming. The fans are working for sure.

Re: Running hot?
I have Marc's prom and the fan temps set at both on 205 off 200 and that is just past mid point on the analog. If I had to guess 238 or the on point of the second fan stock setting (first fan is around 228) is about where yours is. Did it cool back down? were you sitting in traffic?
Do you have access to a digital temp reader to check?

Re: Running hot?
Mine will run at least a needle's width warmer than that in heavy traffic and 90+ southern summer. Then the fans kick in and it climbs back up to where yours is. Once I clear the traffic and start moving again, it goes back to almost half. Autocrossing in the summer, and it hits the hatched warning section, but will cool off quickly.

Re: Running hot?
I was in traffic. If I started moving again it would cool down a bit.
I have an infrared thermometer.

Re: Running hot?
As Mark posted it should cool back down, I would definitely check it with your infrared thermometer. I had a thermostat get stuck on my 93 and once above 230 it would never go back below so at least 1 fan was always running.

Re: Running hot?
To read Digital Coolant Temperatures.....
1. Push and hold up and down (each side of Fan Control button) until you get zeros in display on left. 2. Then push up button to right until you get to 16 in the display. 3. Then push center fan button to read digital coolant temperature in degrees C continually in the display until you hit the temperature button. 80 C is 176 F 85 C is 185 F 90 C is 194 F 95 C is 203 F 100 C is 212 F 105 C is 221 F 110 C is 230 F 115 C is 239 F 120 C is 248 F 125 C is 257 F 130 C is 266 F You are running HOT.....I would guess 110 C to 115 C more or less as the gauge is analog and may be off a tad. It is almost always about air flow.

Re: Running hot?
If the gauge is typical, you shouldn't go past 2/3rds of the way to max.
Seeing as how a C4 snorts more junk off the street than a coke addict, you probably just have clogged radiator. |
