Default Brake Fluid

One of the winter projects is new brake fluid. Couldn't find anything in the sections for any recommendations on what type (DOT 3 brand name?). I don't do any racing so I need some regular fluid. I know the GM number but was thinking more of Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc. What say you guys/gals???? Thanks...........

I see in the 90 FSM to use DOT 3. I've seen alot of guys say Synpower from valvolene is great for street use but I've not tried it and I don't know what DOT # it is.

I'm using carquest DOT 3 right now because I'm chasing some gremlins in my brakes and I'm wasting a bunch of fluid. I think since I have a 90 and the book says DOT 3 I'm just gonna use either GM's or another brand name DOT 3.

Go to a F%$d parts house and get there fluid in the blue can. It has a higher boiling point.

My recommendation is to use the Motul RBF600 brake fluid...it's about $13-$15 a liter. Next best thing to Castrol SRF ($70 liter) probably. You can find it at Pegasus Racing online.

I go to Auto Zone, Pep Boys, or Kragen, which ever I happen to be close to, and buy either Castrol, Wagner, or Valvoline Dot 3 brake fluid. I change the brake fluid once a year and they all work fine for street driving. I have been doing this with the same car for 15.5 years now.

I recommend Valvoline Synpower for street use.
