Default Added another car to the family.

Well I just decided to buy my best buddies 2007 BMW 530i fully loaded. He's been after me to take it off his hands for a while now. So I finally said ok. Thank you my friend. It's a beautiful car. I'll see you this weekend.

Dom my 15 year old said she will be getting her drivers permit this year. So which car can she drive? I said you can drive the beamer. She says well I can't drive a 6 speed stick. I said well then I guess you can drive the Chevy cruze. But I can guarantee you that it's not near as cool and the BMW is 5 times the car that cruze is. Plus a 6 speed manual is just more fun.

I taught my kids how to drive manuals. Those were their first cars. They wanted transportation, they needed to shift. My daughter likes a stick but driving in Chicago is a PITA. My son has a 6speed 350Z in San Francisco. I think it teaches them to be more involved in driving a car. Not auto pilot.

Agreed. I'm shocked at how many young people these days don't know or have never driven a standard. I'm like are you kidding me? My mother taught me on a 1988 Fiero GT. I killed that car so many times before I got the hang of it. But once I did I never forgot.

I think this may because many North AMerican market cars dont have a manual trans as a "standard" option anymore. Heck the GM trucks havent had a manual trans option in years.

That is a sharp Bavarian Motor Works product you got there.

Nothing wrong with a little German in the garage. My ZR-1 looks fine with a Mercedes SLK in the Middle and a F-150 King Ranch on the other side. GC

Nice car

Nice wheels ... might as well get you pointed in the right direction; beamers have 2 wheels, bimmers have four. It's best to have the nomenclature correct around dyed-in-the-wool BMW folks. Green side up !

It's Bimmer not Beamer... Beamers are BMW motorcycles.

PS: There's a BMW in my garage too, the 4 wheeled kind...

Thank you Glenn and company for setting me straight lol!
So yesterday I got the Bimmer On my insurance. Then got the inspection done. Then went to the BMW dealership to get the updated navigation DVD's. They were $199. One disk is for the east coast. And the other is for Texas on over to Cali. So I put the disk in and I'm waiting for something to happen. And a message pops up saying to shut the system down for 5 minutes then restart. No problem. I kept taking the disk out thinking it just automatically is going to download the files it needs then I just remove the DVD. But I finally realized that you have to keep the DVD installed. Then all my maps updated. What a dummy. I also decided that since I'm in between jobs at my home shop that I'd move the Z back in the garage. I feel better that it's inside.
