Time for Some Strong FBI Medicine
The 402 stroker I installed last summer in the meantime has been playing rough with the rest of the Z's drive train.
I've had enough headaches with busted stock and custom billet 27 spline spindles, wounded Valeo single disc clutch setups with rickety pull style throw out bearings and OEM trac-lock differential spider gears that could gernade during the next hard launch at the track. So I've turned to the FBI medicine cabinet for strong relief. * RAM Dual Disc 9.5 Clutch Assembly PN 75-2179 with push style throw out bearing conversion * Eaton Detroit Truetrac Differential PN 913A614 * Mark Williams 31 spline hardened billet spindles PN BG-1 * Mark Williams SKF HD bearing hubs PN BG-2 bored out and broached for 31 splines * Tom's Differential Dana 44 rebuild kit * Dana Spicer Viper 4.10 gear set with larger 7/16" ring gear bolts (Thanks Gibby) MW 31 spline spindles next to one of the 27 spline billet spindles showing strain from the 402's greater torque (the other side broke) The SKF HD bearing hub bored and broached to 31 splines next to a stock OEM hub. Great thanks to the brave FBI ZR-1 pioneers Pete, Bob and others for blazing the trail that made these solutions possible and available to the rest of us.

Re: Time for Some Strong FBI Medicine
Looks like some serious hardware! Is this a 4.125"x3.76" motor?

Re: Time for Some Strong FBI Medicine
Phil, any comments on your 4" x 4" 402? This is the route I am taking with my build and am interested in your impressions of it so far.

Man Phil, raising the WAZOO bar again. I don't think I'll every catch up. This should put an end to your equipment failures....good stuff!!

Re: Time for Some Strong FBI Medicine
I'm quite satisfied with how the 402 turned out. With the extra torque and power the car is even more of a blast to drive than before. In 1st and 2nd it shows no respect toward the 345/30-19 Michelin SS rear tires. I'm sure the improved responsiveness also has a lot to do with not having to wait on the poky secondarys to open up after you've put the hammer down. Otherwise it behalves like before when driving around town with little noticeable difference in gas milage.

Re: Time for Some Strong FBI Medicine
What type of torque number are you putting out?
