Haibeck chip install...need help.....
Purchased the Haibeck chip for the 94, received it yesterday and went to install today.....some confusion.....BTW, trying to contact Marc, but his regular line is giving me the fax signal.
In his instructions, it shows an adapter module, where the top half of his chip plugs into. I do not have that adapter module. I can install his chip, but all of those pins are exposed, there is nothing to plug them into. Now my ECM label is worn, so I can't determine any part numbers. But here is the info on my PROM that is in the ECM: 95 BKKR LT5 Proposed 95 ESC ESC 0647 93-95 MY PROD T. Holand 3.30.94 So can this chip be installed with those pins exposed??? Do I have the wrong ECM in the car, because it doesn't have the adapter module for those pins to plug into??? thanks for any info............Tom

Re: Haibeck chip install...need help.....
Tom,
Where in pa are you? I don't have a 95 but on my 90 it's fairly simple, remove 4 or 6 screws holding down the cover with gasket, take that off, there's 2 small clips holding the chip in, pull those back, take the old chip out pop the new one in, replace cover. I'm sure that someone with a 95 will be along to help you out. Now that I think about it I did the same process with a 94 test ecm I used.

Re: Haibeck chip install...need help.....
Hi Tom!
I have a MY1995. If you have Marc Haibeck's performance PROM, Kevin is correct. You straight swap your OEM PROM for your new PROM. If its a Haibeck smog PROM, xfirez51 is correct. You have to piggy back your Haibeck PROM with your original PROM. Then remove the blue plastic cover on your original PROM (2 plastic tabs on each side) so the both will fit and maneuver them inside the window/ECM casing and push it carefully into the original motherboard slot. The retaining tabs should flip back into place. Should have come with instructions that include pictures. Any other questions PM/email me. Ted |

There's instructions on PDF posted on Marc's page too at the end of the paper that describes everything the chip alters.

Yes, finally did it that way, I won't even tell you how I got the original chip into the ECM with the blue cover on and hooked up and then taken apart and out of the ECM, then blue cover removed and hooked up the correct way. No I won't tell you at all how I accomplished that maneuver... Quote:
I also did not know that there was a Performance PROM, along with the Smog PROM, unless the Performance PROM is the custom build unit??? Yes, I did see and have the instructions that you mention, just was brain dead the other day and was not used to plugging a chip into the existing PROM as this one required......
