Installing HID fogs
I've been meaning to share this for a while. I installed the CorvetteMods HID fogs on my 92 ZR-1. However, I really don't like the idea of just shoving the spade connectors into the factory harness. I like something cleaner and more OEM both from a looks standpoint and safety.
You can modify the factory harness to accept the Corvette Mods connector if you have some simple tools. Just swap the connectors. I suggest Corvette Mods copy this if and when I delete the pics. OEM v Corvette Mod harness connectors Remove OEM connector at Power end of OEM wiring harness Do the same to the Corvette Mods supplied harness Now just connect the harness to the ballast using the OEM harness w the Corvette Mods connector swapped in. And voila. No exposed wiring and no electrical tape kludge. Make sure you have polarity correct

Re: Installing HID fogs
So......you slip the pins on the back side of the connector to retract the keeper and pull the connectors out of the housing. Nice modification
What is the difference between 12094430 and 12094429 pins? Where do you get those little tools? Is this the Fog Light Kit you are referring to? CORVETTE C4 1984-1996 FOG LIGHT HID CONVERSION KIT

Re: Installing HID fogs
You guys are toooooo fast......what is the difference in those 12094430 and 12094429 tools and where do you get those tools as it seems they will be much better than my tiny flat screw driver I been using
This might work Weatherpack Tools

Re: Installing HID fogs
The blue one is used for older connectors which are usually larger.
THE GREEN one I use for ECM pins as an example. There's actually a couple more for the barrel shaped connectors like O2 sensors

Re: Installing HID fogs
Yep I liked the corvettehid.com approach to this as well Dom as their kit comes with the connectors. No spades to tap

The kit I got last year had instructions that showed taking naked spade connectors and shoving them into the factory harness connector. That red/black wiring harness in the pic above had just spade connectors on the other end of it. I modded the factory extension harness so I could use the OEM harness and all connections would have Weatherpak connectors on them.

Re: Installing HID fogs
Good work!
I hate re-pinning sockets. Spent 2 hours once re-populating a front panel connector on a desktop with ONLY 7 PINS!!! (spent another hour ID'ing mobo headers). DON'T wanna' do it again nOPe. Right tool does make it easier huh? GM tool Jxxxxx Always good advice there too; we all know electronics goodies don't work when the magic smoke gets out!

I re pinned an entire ECM harness connector once. Changed pins and holders. Need to get the right tools to push out the various type pins and a correct crimper. You can find the tools easy enough. Most Weatherpack providers will have them.

Re: Installing HID fogs
This looks great! I didn't know special tools existed for
changing the connector wires. I'll definitely look into them. What are they called? Nevermind: http://www.ebay.com/itm/JEGS-Perform...91fe4a&vxp=mtr I installed HID headlights with the ballast and wiring a year or two ago. Love them except... when I switch on the OEM running lights (fogs?) my hi beams light up. Or something like that. Will adding HID fogs help this? Last edited by tf95ZR1; 02-08-2014 at 01:13 PM.
