Default Another road trip to AZ in my 91

I don't know why I entertain the notion that I'm going to keep my 91 a low mileage example when I find myself driving it around so much.

This time it is because my other two cars are not up to the task. The C6 does not have runflats and my nearly new Mustang has the transmission in 4000 pieces at the Ford dealer (for the 4th time). Not to mention I already got the rock chips and general rash already, so why not?

In other news: I passed my smog check by a wide margin- the new O2 sensors really helped out, but I'm starting to have bad thoughts about doing headers until the next check rolls around.

But it has a spare. The C6 does not and I do not have a plan b if I lose a tire 1/2 way between Yuma and PHX as I did not repurchase RF tires for it.

C4 FTW this year. Should have a couple of idle days out there to drive around.

My rule is to visit from November to August. I get cranking north of 95 degrees.

I had fun with a WRX on my last trip between Pheonix and Tucson some years back. Made the trip in 1hr
Poor little thing just had his rubber band wound up as tight as it'd go but just kept disappearing in the rear view mirror. Then I decided to let him go and I tucked in behind a semi. Went round a bend with an over pass and the poor WRX was there pulled over with some red lights behind him.
It was a great trip.
My sister asked how I knew there'd be trouble up ahead. I just said, "the law of averages".

It was 104deg at midnight. It was September. My car has a stock radiator etc and hovered around 226 deg.

Just a thought for those heading out on trips: check the air pressure in your spare. When I had my newly acquired 95 with 20k miles in for service at Marc's, he found the pressure to be 20 psi. It should be either 50 or 60 psi--have to look up the exact number. --Bob
