FX-3
How can I tell if my selective ride control is working? Is their a wporld of difference between the settings? "seems a little softer ride in tour than performance but could be in my head. Any eeasy way to test?

Re: FX-3
There is really only a difference at slower speeds. The manual explains it pretty well. It is hard for me to feel the difference too.

Re: FX-3
You should be able to feel it in the seat of your pants. I know in my 91' if I flip it from tour to performance it's like going from comfortable, even soft, to "Go Kart", nice and firm.
Maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but you really should be able to feel it.

Re: FX-3
you are exaggerating. the best thing to do is drive the same stretch of road 3 times and listen for the differences in how the car reacts to the bumps

Re: FX-3
Didn't I read that each of the three settings has 6 subsettings ,if you will, that the computer changes based on speed?

With the late FRC, the low and middle ranges have six steps but the actual shock valving commanded by each is different. The top range has only four steps and, again, the actual shock valving commanded by each step is specific to that range. The controller selects the valving steps depending on vehicle speed. The selector switch tends to skew the speed scale up and down the range of steps.

At normal driving speeds for city you'll feel it easily. One thing though is where you keep you tire pressure. If you're at 32 or so it's harder to feel. I stay around 38 and I feel the difference in all three settings, or what I call: 1. velveeta (only feel only long duration transients) 2. bus (more road noise and feel of the road) 3. rock truck (same noise but can feel every pebble in the road) requires no acceleration just coasting to feel the difference.

Re: FX-3
One thing you want to do is see if the actuators are still on top of you shocks. If they are missing someone has ripped this system off the car. I have heard of this being done when they fail instead of fixing them.
