Reverse Lock-out rattle
Does anyone know how to make the little collar that you lift to get reverse to quit rattleing? If I keep my finger on it all is well, finger off = noise. Can it be removed and still get reverse?
Thanks in advance Chris

Re: Reverse Lock-out rattle
Put a Hurst short shifter in the ZF. Make it a crash reverse.

Re: Reverse Lock-out rattle
Yep. I believe ZF-Doc offers a short throw w the lockout. I have used the Hurst since my 84 and really like it. The lockout isn't even a thought.

How hard is it to replace the shifter with the Hurst?

Re: Reverse Lock-out rattle
I had the same problem but the rattle came from the shifter knob on the top. Jim of WAZOO peeled up the top cap with a small thin screwdriver and hit the retainer with a small hammer and it was fixed. Also adjusted the reverse lock out as others pointed out.
I just received my Hurst short shifter and hope to have it installed during our next maintenance day. I understand it takes a couple of hours.

Re: Reverse Lock-out rattle
just my personal opinion . i have owned both shifters in my 2zr1s hurst and bills. and i have taken out the hurst in both cars and replaced with bills. i found the shift length a little shorter and smoother with bills. my thinking was he does magic with his tranny rebuilds and he put alot of thought into his design of his shifter .
