Re: WTB 90-91 Radio
Hi Kevin,
Of course I could do that, but our radios are not exactly state of the art by todays standard. I can't see spending what it would take to repair what I have. I'll either put a used one in or go with a state of the art aftermarket unit if nothing turns up. Make sense? |

You've got the "control head" (in dash) and you have the CDM that on a '91MY is under the right side hush panel up near the back-side of the fuse block. Here's what I recall is a pretty good video for removal. http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereor...vettevideo.htm |

Re: WTB 90-91 Radio
The clock stopped updating the time and the radio has no sound, the stations will not seek or scan etc, but it does light up. Per the service manual I unhooked the battery but that didn't help. No blown fuses. I think the head unit is bad. Since the battery was unhooked, the time stays at 1:00, it is illuminated, just stays at 1:00. When you turn the radio on, it is at 87.3 (or somewhere near there) and you cannot get the frequency to change. No sound from speakers.

Shawn at Corvettenutz has a pile of them I'm sure. He had a dozen CDM's to pick thru when mine went out. Probably a good chance a working radio has a bad CD player though.

Maybe if you find a replacement with a failed CD you can swap out the ribbon/head part in you broken one. Then tie it off so it does not rub. It really depends on how stock you want to keep it. The other option some use is to just rip out things that don't work rather than fix them.
