I am trying to repair the halo panel on my 1990 And am having trouble getting a color match. It's a red on red ZR-1. There's only one red color shown for 1990 when I ordered interior dye, but it is a shade too light. Anyone know what the correct red color is?

where are you ordering from? don't forget, your car is 22 years old and you're ordering new color parts for it, if it matches perfectly i'd be shocked

It's a 16,000 mile car, rarely in sunlight. I doubt there's been much fading. The red I received from Ecklers is a bright red, whereas the red in my 1990 is a shade darker, not as bright. I ordered used halo panels from a 1991 C4, but they were a bright red, also. I'm certainly not a virgin to this situation, but it's frustrating

The darker red on the earlier cars is called "Flame Red". The later cars used the brighter red called "Torch Red".
The panels from the 91 should be Flame Red, unless someone replaced them with the later ones. |

You might have to go to an automotive paint store and have some paint custom mixed for the job.Im not surprised the Ecklers paint doesn't match. As stated the 90-92 is Flame Red and the later is Torch Red.When I was touching up a small bare spot in the carpet I took a piece to Home Depot and had a small can custom matched. This was an experiment so if it didn't match I wouldn't have used it,not out too much cash.I may be able to help with your panels, you pay for materials and shipping. As stated if this cars been out of the sun light for most of the past 22 years I cant see how it can fade that much if any but for a dead on match both panels will have to be painted.

You're probably right. It seems to be a one-size-fits-most type of thing. I appreciate the Flame Red lead. Maybe someone who's really in the business will have the right color or, like suggested, I'll just have to get a custom mix. Thanks for all the replies

whatever color producer company is, it will not be the same as original 90 zr1 interior from the factory, it will not be 100% match. Last edited by HADI-ZR1; 04-08-2012 at 06:08 PM. |
