Cool air, dry roads, might not have many more nice days like this to shake the cobweb out before the snow flies. After all, Dave McLellan said the LT5 needs to go to 7000 rpm on a regular basis, "And, the LT5 will thank you for it!" Well, we must follow the directions of the Chief Engineer that oversaw the development of our ZR-1s...Right...RIGHT???
![]() Boy, she's really feeling frisky today, and finally a stretch of smooth country blacktop that's all mine...I think. Rowing just "firmly" thru the first couple gears as I climb a little hill, and I can tell shes eager to play as I crest the top. We're in the middle of 3rd gear when we crest the hill, and clear road ahead...perfect! Hammer down!! Oh, I was bathing in a flood of exhilaration!! The speed, the sounds the WOT LT5 makes, the ever increasing rush of the white lines as the Z eats up the road in ever bigger gulps. There's no letting up either - pulling hard without a hint of giving in, and then there's the shift light. Whoa! That was fun! But! It was the white car with the unmistakable black grill of a Crown Vic only about 1/2 mile away that really got my undivided attention now. Oh, ![]() Hard on the brakes and quickly back down to just under 70. But, my worst fear about what the oncoming vehicle just might be...became a certainty as now the row of "vector lights" was clearly visible over the roof. Actually, I didn't have to squint to see them either, cuz suddenly they began to flash red and blue. Aw crap! I'm hauling it down to under 55 and those red and blue strobes suddenly stop!...I'm holding my breath as we're about to pass. We make eye contact, and he's smiling and wagging his finger at me, but keeps on going... Wheew! It took a little while before the "rpm" in my chest settled to normal idle - kinda like our favorite cars do. It was a wee bit more exhilarating of an outing than I expected. But, all's well that ends well. It was fun none the less. Anybody else get out to enjoy some of the last few chances before the snow flies?? P.

Huh! So that's what snow looks like. I saw it on a Kincade calendar once but I thought it was urban legend.

Don't care for cold or snow after doing tours in Korea, Arctic circle and Alaska hence one of the reasons for settling in Dubai. Wouldn't you know it? A couple of years back in our winter we took a drive up to the mountains. See what is coming up? Yep you guessed it. It snowed. Just a light bit and didn't stay on the ground but it was snow. Turned the vette around and raced down the mountain back into warmer temperatures. Thankfully it hasn't happened again. The real benefit of living here is the Vette weather is 12 months of the year.
Bad news here? They have discovered hand held radar guns and sneaky attitudes. |

Everybody should get a free do-over every now and then...and an extra radar detector. The only tickets I have are from being lazy and not getting the escort detector out of my other vette.
