I've been talking to a powder coating company regarding getting my plenum done. The contact asked me what temperature the plenum gets up to, his concern was that it might get too high for their colored powders and the high temp ones are very limited.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Dave

I don't know except that you might get a 1st degree burn easily? I know after an hour or so of running time I can't touch mine for more than a coupla of seconds before pain begins.
I know that Marc H is now painting instead of doing powder coating. I think he may have had some trouble with the color yellowing(?) and / or cracking (?), but I'm not 100% on all that. Maybe drop an e-mail? ![]() Tom

The black on mine is holding up just fine. Has been on there for several years.

Dave, my white powder coating is just as bright as it was 3 years ago when I had it done.

Thanks for the feedback everyone - anyone know the actual temps the plenum would see? It sounds like it's not an issue but would be interesting to know what the actual figure is.

I have never seen or heard of a heat related issue with a powdered motor. Did some pyrometer readings on my plenum years ago - been a while but I want to say we saw some readings in the low 200 degree range.

The only powder coating that I have ever seen "yellow" is the clear coat. Usually on intake manifolds.
