Default Driving ZR 1 in wet weather

I have a 1991 ZR1. After driving it in wet weather,it creates a loud, screeching noise when it starts drying out. Took it to a knowleadgable Corvette mechanic. He told me to continue driving it, the noise would go away. He was right, but what causes the noise? Really embarrasing with all the noise.

sounds like you might need a new serpentine belt. probably the rubber is really dried out.

I agree w/ the belt being the probable culprit. While it is squeaking, spritz the belt with a little Windex. If it stops squeaking for a moment or so before resuming, you have your culprit...the belt! Try to find a Gates and avoid the Chinese crap...Unless, of course, you LIKE the sqeaking!

If the belt isn't "IT", get back and we'll try something else.

Wow, that sounds a little too good to be true. A goodyear LT5 belt for less than $13? I thought you couldn't get the belt for our cars for much less than $50?

I thought that was too good to be true also so I bought one in the spring and I have to say it works just fine. I was amazed that at the price point it would even fit let alone work.

I was even more leery when I saw the rib pattern as it was totally different from the G/Yr belt that I bought at a local chevy parts counter back in 05, and again in 07.....I was sure I had been taken for a ride but it fits & operates perfectly!
